Valery Magnum
Right Bank Bordeaux-style Blend
Valery is named for the patron saint of wine in the St. Emilion region that inspired it. We started with old vine Merlot from a stony block in Boushey Vineyard and added complex, aromatic Cabernet Franc from iconic Champoux Vineyard. The result is a balanced and complex wine with the elegance and ethereal perfume for which this blend of two of Washington’s best varieties is known.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
“This wine shows a ton of charm up front, with wild strawberry, black raspberry, pressed meadow flowers, hints of earthy mint, fresh herbs, and crushed stone. On the palate, the telltale silky texture of the old vine Merlot shows great clarity, with crunchy dark red fruits, Baker’s chocolate, floral notes, and a persistent sense of fresh winter mint and savory minerality. The finish is long and focused, with a fine but ample tannin structure that will lend to great aging potential. Drink 2024-2036.” - Chris Peterson, Winemaker

"The Merlot-dominated 2019 Valery checks in as 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc. It has riper plum, cherry, and redcurrant fruit as well as notes of cedarwood, dried herbs, and loamy earth. Pure Merlot goodness on the palate, it’s plush, round, and sexy, with supple tannins and plenty of mid-palate depth. Drink this beauty over the coming 15 years or so."
