Valery Magnum
Right Bank Bordeaux-style Blend
Valery is named for the patron saint of wine in the St. Emilion region that inspired it. We started with old vine Merlot from a stony block in Boushey Vineyard and added complex, aromatic Cabernet Franc from iconic Champoux Vineyard. The result is a balanced and complex wine with the elegance and ethereal perfume for which this blend of two of Washington’s best varieties is known.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
“Delicate and evocative nose, featuring black raspberry reduction, Amarena cherry, minted dark chocolate, candied rosemary leaf, and a pleasing chalky minerality. Rich and darker fruited than usual on the palate, with brandied black cherries, cacao nibs, and earthy winter mint notes. This nicely structured wine will benefit from a few years in the cellar. Drink 2025-2040.” - Chris Peterson, Winemaker

"A beautiful blend of 88% Merlot with the remainder Cabernet Franc, this offers ripe dark currants with red florals, coffee grounds, scorched earth and shades of sagebrush on the nose. The palate is soft, seamless and very clean with no rough edges. Layers of red and dark fruits parade with milk chocolate, garrigue, red bell pepper and black currant jelly. This is seriously good considering the challenges of the
vintage. Drink 2023-2030."
