Justine Magnum
Southern Rhône-style Blend
Justine reflects our belief that Washington is capable of producing world class blends of grape varieties traditional to the Southern Rhône region of France. The name is inspired by one of the great heroines of recent literature, who also sprung from the imagination of the Mediterranean. Dark, seductive, complex, with a chasm of depth: The Justine is a great reflection of Avennia’s mission of expression, and Washington’s generous terroir.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
"A dark and brooding vintage of this wine, leading with aromas of black raspberry, cherry brandy, pomegranate, orange peel, white pepper, forest floor, and slate notes. The palate features a lot of dark red fruits, raspberry liqueur, violets, vanilla oil, and warm asphalt, finishing with echoes of dried scrub herbs and licorice. This wine is tasting great now, and will improve and keep for a decade plus. Drink now-2035." - Chris Peterson, Winemaker

"The 2021 Justine is distinctly savory and spicy, with mentholated herbs and underbrush complicating crushed blackberries and pine shavings. It's silky and supple with cooling acidity, balancing its ripe red and black fruits as inner violet florals amass toward the close. A staining of minerality adds a tactile feel through the finish, mixed with subtle tannins and licorice hints. This is a gorgeous and supremely balanced Southern Rhône-inspired blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah." - Eric Guido
