Sestina Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum
Left Bank Bordeaux-style Blend
The Sestina is a type of poem with an ancient structure within which new ideas can flourish. Our Sestina blend has the same goal: Old World Bordeaux varietals chosen from great vineyards, and treated in a traditional fashion, yielding a modern vision of Washington’s finest terroirs.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
"An outstanding rendition of Sestina, with aromas of dark plum, concentrated black currant, graphite, mountain violets, wild blackberry honey, and fresh bay leaf. The palate threads the needle of being lively and palate-coating, with concentrated black and dark red fruits, raspberry vine, deep loam, chocolate torte, and dried thyme. This wine is just starting its journey but has a long life ahead. Decant and enjoy with food now, or try it from 2030-2050.” - Chris Peterson, Winemaker

"The Bordeaux blend is where winemaker Chris Peterson shows his skillset, and this 2022 version of Sestina, a Left Bank homage, is no different. The Sestina showcases Washington's top sites, including Red Willow, Bacchus, DuBrul and Dionysus. There is a splendid sophistication in the aromatics, with singed violets, chipped flint, dusty berries and dried mint leaves. The palate, still wound tight, luxuriates in red fruits, with strawberries and cherries lifted by piquant blood orange notes. There's a sophisticated dark element of graphite minerals and smoky salinity. Fine tannin, superb structure and a mocha-tinged finish that is kissed with a green peppercorn. This wine shows a brilliant acidity to balance its depth. Classic and concise, exceptional." - Clive Pursehouse
